Date Late March to Early April
Meguro River, one of the best hanami spots in Tokyo, features about 800 cherry trees along the three-lined street.
Some couples choose this calm 4 km path for a place to date. Several park benches for two persons are available, and there are few people holding parties beneath cherry trees except for the time of a festival.
That makes this path a good place for couples to date.
After appreciating cherry blossoms in Meguro River, it is fun to explore nearby cafes and boutiques.
Passing through the Yamate Street and heading toward JR Meguro Station, there are many good spots for blossom-viewing including Nakano Bridge, Nanbu Bridge and Yanagi Bridge. Sugakari Park and Saigo Park, around Nanbu Bride are two hidden but beautiful hanami spots where park benches are available to sit and take time for viewing cherry blossoms.
Every year, for the Nakameguro Sakura Festival, a lot of lanterns are decorated along the river.
At the day of the festival, sweet sake and rice cakes are served and the area get crowded by hanami visitors.
